Quality Wedgwood 'Argenta' Majolica Fish Plate c1883

A stunning Wedgwood majolica plate from the famous argenta range, introduced in the 1870s. Three relief moulded trout on a creamy white background, surrounded by reeds and fronds of water plants. Rich olive metallic glazes highlighted with pink give the fish a naturalistic shimmer. A fine example in excellent condition; very rare to find in such good order. Impressed 'Wedgwood' and code for 1883. Diameter 22.25cm (8.75in)
