Pair of Staffordshire Political Jugs William and Catherine Gladstone c1900 (Sold)

An unusual pair of Staffordshire jugs commemorating the lives of former Prime Minister William Ewart Gladstone (1809-1898) and his wife Catherine (1812-1900). Printed in colour with portraits, the reverse with sprigs of flowers. In excellent condition - no chips, cracks or restoration. Fine age related crazing associated with this type of ware, though nothing to detract from the display value of these rare items (sometimes single plates of Gladstone are seen; seldom jugs, especially a pair). Unmarked. Provenance - from the estate of former Prime Minister Harold Wilson and his wife Mary.
