A beautiful parian ware commemorative jug to mark the death of Prince Albert, consort of Queen Victoria. Produced by the Old Hall Earthenware Company (1861 to 1886) who succeeded Charles Meigh & Son at the Old Hall works in Hanley. It's finely modelled with a portrait of Prince Albert on a blue ground titled Prince Consort, while the reverse bears the Royal Coat of Arms and is impressed BORN AUGUST 26th 1819 Died DEC 14th 1861. The handle has cameo portraits of Queen Victoria on both sides with royal regalia, including the garter star, surmounted by the crown. In excellent condition - no chips, cracks or restoration. Superb quality detail and a rare item to find, especially in such good order. Moulded diamond registration mark for 9th April 1862 which is also impressed OHECO. Height 23.5cm (9.25in)
