An unusual Minton majolica strawberry server with two wells for cream and sugar. Lovely deep pink glaze and crisp modelling. In excellent condition; no chips, cracks or restoration and little sign of wear. For accuracy, the colour thins in places on the edge as part of the firing process though nothing to detract from this rare shape. Impressed MINTONS, date code 1880 and shape number 2279 (described in the original Minton shape book as a 'Strawberry Plate'). Width 23.5cm (9.25in)
