Mason's Patent Ironstone China 'Tree Peony' Dinner Plate with London Retailer's Mark c1830

Stock Status: In Stock
Information

A lovely Mason's indented plate in one of their famous 'Tree Peony' patterns. Slight signs of age and wear, but no chips, cracks or restoration - displays very well. Printed ironstone mark, with interesting retailer's mark 'I. Allsup*' (see image 4). Diameter 26cm (10.25in)

*John Allsup was a china and glass merchant with premises at 16 St. Paul's Church Yard, London. There are several references to him in the 1820 to 1855 period - one as an agent for Apsley Pellatt glass and another where he gave evidence in a trial at the Old Bailey (a man and woman obtained breakfast, tea and toilet wares from him using false pretences).
