Lovely Pair of Shelley 'Indian Peony' Lustre Vases c1920 (Sold)

Stock Status: Sold Out
Information
A fine pair of 'Indian Peony' hexagonal vases, a design introduced by Walter Slater around 1918. Hand enamelled green tree peonies set against a mother-of-pearl lustre background produce a 'brocaded' effect which is very decorative. Both vases in excellent condition; no chips, cracks or restoration. The gilding is rubbed around the rims, but this is quite standard for these types of ware and doesn't detract from these superb items. Difficult to find a pair in such good order. Printed Shelley shield marks in green with painted 8262 pattern numbers. Height 18.5cm (7.25in)
