Information
A lovely plate, reflecting the Victorian love of ferns. Vivid green hart's tongue and japanese ferns surrounded by white dog's tooth violets on a rich terracotta background. A classic majolica plate, unmarked and with the mottled reverse as usual. Often attributed to George Jones. No chips, cracks or restoration, but there is some minor glaze loss/fritting round the rim and minor signs of wear (see image 3). Still displays very well and is a very good example. Diameter 21.5cm (8.5in)
