Information
A superb antique Victorian cranberry glass jug in every respect - fine depth of colour with 'drapery' moulding. Nicely applied clear glass handle and pontil mark to the base. This is a great example, in excellent condition. An unusual feature is what appears to be a small blemish near the rim, but is in fact a midge type insect which must have been trapped when the jug was made. Really only noticed with a lens (impossible to photograph) - a great curiosity on such a pretty piece and mentioned really for accuracy. Circa 1880. Height 12.5cm (4.9in)
