Large Spode Pearlware 'Net' Pattern Footed Dish or Comport c1820

A stunning large size footed comport in the Net pattern. Oval in shape with a lovely deep bowl, the medium blue print has a central design surrounded by four medallions, each with a different chinoiserie scene. The border and foot have a striking band of flowers and scrolls. The glaze has a fine rippled blue tinge associated with early pearlware. In excellent condition; a couple of minor faults being a slight glaze frit on one edge and some slight age staining underneath. Both mentioned for accuracy rather than anything serious. Overall, the condition is very good for an item of this age and size. This pattern is typically unmarked, but the shape is found in the Spode archives and in other patterns which are sometimes marked. Length 30.5cm (12in), height 11.5cm (4.5in)
