A superb Sarreguemines character jug modelled as a pig with a hole in the snout for pouring and filled from an opening in the back of the head. Lovely glaze with fine colours. In good antique condition, without chips or restoration. Fine age crazing, the odd spot of kiln debris and 1cm stable hairline on the rim of the opening. Nothing serious to detract from this rare jug. Unmarked, though known pieces marked 'Sarreguemines'. Height 22.5cm (8.8in)
