Large Royal Doulton 'Pipes of Pan' Series Ware Rack Plate D4784 c1928

A lovely Royal Doulton rack plate in the rare Pipes of Pan series introduced in 1928 and withdrawn in 1940. The scene depicts scene five of six; profile of Pan playing double pipes facing a rocky cliff. In excellent condition; no chips, cracks or restoration, though there is all over crazing consistent with age and typical of these wares. Still displays beautifully. Full Royal Doulton mark in blue, date impressed for 1928 and painted pattern number D4784. Diameter 26.4cm (10.4in)
