A rare early series designed by Charles Noke and introduced in 1904. Featuring three images of Old Salts or sailors, this marvellous Tudor jug has scene three showing a sailor lighting his pipe and sitting on a creel outside a pub. The reverse shows a harbour with sailing ships and the rim has a border of cork floats. In excellent condition; no chips, cracks or restoration. Lovely flow blue glaze and the largest of three sizes. Noke signature near the base of the handle. Printed Royal Doulton, England mark and painted pattern number D1979. Height 20.25cm (8in)
