A large 6887 Art Nouveau shape vase depicting a monk with hands on hips standing next to a beer barrel. Beautifully block printed in deep cobalt blue with a fine Whieldon glaze which enhances the colour. Designed by Charles Noke. In great condition; no chips, cracks or restoration. A lovely 'stand alone' vase, though works well with vase #2 although the glaze is slightly darker on this one (specially fired glazes are seldom identical and were seen as 'one off' pieces). Printed Royal Doulton, England with painted series number D2385 and impressed shape 6887. Height 24.1cm (9.5in)
