Large Richardson's boater shaped Vaseline Glass dish c1880

An imposing flat dish, somewhat reminiscent of a straw boater in shape. Spun on a pontil rod (polished flat) and then raised to form a shallow dish, the striped vaseline effect is particularly stunning on this large piece. The uranium content has produced a lovely yellow opalescence. A fine example of the glassmaker's art. Diameter 21cm (8.25in)
