Large George Jones Turquoise Majolica 'Chestnut' Dish c1875

A fantastic George Jones majolica dish with leaves and sprays of pink tinged chestnut flowers on a lovely turquoise ground - the central well with fine tortoiseshell mottling (also to the reverse). In excellent condition - no damage or restoration. For accuracy, there is a slight factory blemish on the rim underneath (see image 5), barely noticed and part of the manufacturing process. Nothing to detract from the display value of this rare item. Impressed George Jones monogram with crescent and painted reference number 1881. Width 30cm (11.75in)
