Large George Jones Majolica 'Chestnut Leaf on Napkin' Serving Dish c1870

This superb piece of George Jones majolica is in the rare form of a chestnut leaf on a napkin. The stem of the leaf curls over to form a handle and branches either side to form sprays of deep pink and ochre chestnut flowers. In great condition, without chips, cracks or restoration. The base rim has factory grinding to remove excess glaze so it sits properly. A large piece which displays beautifully. No impressed mark; typical of early George Jones. Width 29.5cm (11.6in)
