Grimwades WW1 Bruce Bairnsfather 'Old Bill' Large Jug c1917 - Rare

An excellent and large Grimwades Bruce Bairnsfather jug with the caption "GIVE IT A GOOD 'ARD UN BERT. YOU CAN GENERALLY 'EAR EM FIZZING A BIT FIRST IF THEY ARE AGOIN TO EXPLODE". Royal coat of arms to the reverse. Printed in sepia with Bruce Bairnsfather signature. In great condition; no chips, cracks or restoration. Mild age related crazing typical of these wares, but nothing to detract from this lovely item. Rare to find, especially in such good order. Grimwades globe and “Made by the Girls of Staffordshire during the Winter of 1917 when the Boys were in the trenches fighting for Liberty and Civilisation” backstamps. Height 16.5cm (6.5in)
