Grimwade's WW1 Bairnsfather Ware Old Bill - 'Coiffure in the Trenches' Large Wall Plaque c1919

A superb Grimwade's Bruce Bairnsfather large plaque with the caption 'COIFFURE IN THE TRENCHES - KEEP YER 'EAD STILL, OR I'LL AVE YER BLINKIN' EAR OFF' and a picture border of helmets, plum tins, buckets, flasks, etc. Printed in sepia with Bruce Bairnsfather signature. In great condition; usual fine crazing, but no chips, cracks or restoration. A rare item to find in such good order. Pierced rim for hanging. Marked on the back 'A Souvenir of the Great War , Commenced Aug 4th 1914; Armistice Nov 11th 1918; Peace Signed June 28th 1919. Bairnsfather Ware. Grimwade's Stoke on Trent' above a caricature labelled 'Old Bill'. Also green printed Grimwade's mark. Diameter 24.75cm (9.75in)
