A superb Royal Doulton rack plate in the much sought after Gallant Fishers design. An early series ware introduced in 1913 and withdrawn in the 1930s. The plate depicts two humorous characters sitting on a wall fishing, one glum and one smiling, with the quote "Of recreation there is none so free as fishing is alone". In great overall condition, with only some clean age crazing typical of these wares. Nothing that really detracts from the display value of this striking piece.
