Information
In the 1860s, Joseph Holdcroft, like George Jones, left Minton to set up his own pottery in Longton, Staffordshire. Here we have a stunning Grape Leaf & Vine low comport, occasionally seen on a cobalt ground but rarely on turquoise. The colours are superb and the modelling is crisp. In great condition with minimal signs of wear; no chips, cracks or restoration. Feint traces of mark to base, but I have some matching plates for sale which all have the 'JH' monogram clearly impressed. Diameter 23.5cm (9.25in)
