A lovely quality plate with a pierced rim and deep border of delicate enamelled prunus blossom with a central flower study reflecting the Japanese influence on the aesthetic movement. The shot enamel colours are lined and highlighted with raised gilding. An early example of enamelling which Doulton later developed into a range they called 'Spanish Ware'. In excellent condition; no chips, cracks or restoration. Printed Doulton Burslem with registration number 71806, impressed DOULTONS and painted pattern reference C1024. Both registration and pattern reference are for 1887. Diameter 22.5cm (8.9in)
