A lovely indented dinner plate by Enoch Wood and Sons from the extensive (fifty eight known views) Grapevine Border Series based on engravings by John Preston Neale. Printed in dark blue with a view of the 'new' Wardour Castle in Wiltshire, a Palladian house built in the 1770s in the grounds of the original ruined castle. The distinctive border includes vine leaves and tendrils with bunches of grapes on a cellular ground. In excellent condition; no chips, cracks or restoration. A rare item to find, especially in such good order. Printed 'WARDOUR CASTLE, WILTSHIRE' and impressed 'ENOCH WOOD & SONS, BURSLEM'. Diameter 26cm (10.25in)
