Early Royal Doulton Series Ware 'Coaching Days' Large Leeds Square Dish D2716 c1910

An early Royal Doulton series ware Leeds square fruit dish with a scene of the coach (red version) pursued by highwaymen. Designed by the illustrator and cartoonist Victor Venner (fl.1904-24). In good condition with minimal age related wear; no chips, cracks or restoration, although there is overall light pitting of the glaze caused during firing. It doesn't detract from the display value of this unusual item, but it is noticeable on close inspection (more to be felt than seen). Royal Doulton backstamp and painted pattern number D2716.
