Information
Introduced in 1905, designed by Charles Noke and based on Izaak Walton's 'The Compleat Angler' first published in 1653. The series depicts combinations of fishermen in 17th century dress with various quotations and willow tree borders (dark green/brown on earlier wares, light green on later pieces). Here is an early 7052 double handled 'trophy' vase showing various characters from the series. Around the inner rim is the quote "The jealous trout that low did lie, Rose at a well dissembled fly". In great condition; no chips or restoration. Only point to mention is a feint star crack in the glaze below one handle, but nothing to detract from this lovely item. Displays beautifully and still rare to find in such good order. Signed Noke. Special backstamp and impressed shape number 7052. Height 14.25cm (5.6in)
