Information
Based on Izaak Walton's 'The Compleat Angler' first published in 1653, the series depicts combinations of fishermen in 17th century dress with various quotations and willow tree borders. Here is an early art nouveau shaped jug, similar to the Tudor shape, showing various characters from the series. Around the base is the quote "And when the timrous trout I wait to take, And he devours my bait". In excellent condition; no chips, cracks or restoration. Some crazing to the base typical of these wares, but nothing to detract from this lovely item. Displays beautifully and rare to find in such good order. Special backstamp and U.S. Patent June 5th 1906 Height 14.5cm (5.7in)
