Early Royal Doulton 'Coaching Days' Sucrier Covered Sugar E3804 by Victor Venner c1905

An early bone china covered sugar from the coaching days series, depicting a man opening a gate for the coach with girl watching and the coach horn sounding. Coach with red door and trim. Designed by the illustrator and cartoonist Victor Venner (fl.1904-24). In excellent condition; no cracks or restoration and only a minor flea bite inside the rim of the lid (see image 4). Noticed under close scrutiny though nothing to detract from this rare item. Royal Doulton England mark and painted pattern number E3804. Height 11.25cm (4.4in)
