Early Doulton Burslem 'Jacobean' Series Ware Jug D1011 c1901

A superb Doulton Burslem 'Jacobean' jug finely printed and delicately hand tinted with a scene of three cavaliers reading and drinking round a table - one of three known scenes in this early series. The deep border around the base, the rim and handle washed with a soft orange lustre. In excellent condition - no chips, cracks or restoration and showing little sign of wear. Doulton Burslem backstamp with special 'Jacobean' mark and painted series reference D1011. Height 21.5cm (8.4in)
