Early Clarice Cliff Original Bizarre Shape 265 Vase c1927 (Sold)

An early Bizarre 265 shape vase, nicely painted with a central panel of iron red diamonds bordered with green, yellow and orange bands. Every brush stroke is shown to emphasize the hand painted qualities of the range. In excellent condition - no chips, cracks or restoration and showing little sign of wear. Produced in the first few months of Clarice Cliff's original designs, it's a fine example of her early work . A lovely design on an old Newport shape. Newport Pottery mark (the old stock Clarice first used up) and hand written orange enamel 'Bizarre'' mark (the very first 'trial' Bizarre mark). Impressed shape number '265'. Height 15.5cm (6.1in)
