Early Clarice Cliff Bizarre 'Woodland' Stamford Teapot c1931 (Sold)
An early Stamford teapot (with the square spout which was subsequently changed to a teardrop shape) boldly decorated in 'Woodland' with a sinuous black, orange and green tree in a landscape of yellow hills and multi-coloured 'lollipop' flowers. Complemented with orange trim to the lid and handle which accentuates this classic art deco shape. In excellent condition; no chips, cracks or restoration. Rare to find Stamford pots in such good order. 'WOODLAND by Clarice Cliff' lithograph mark with Wilkinson's painted pattern number 8869 and stamped 'Registration Applied For' (to protect the shape against copies). Small two cup breakfast set size. Height with lid 11.75cm (4.6in)
