A finely detailed Copeland parian bust of the composer Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827), reduced from the sculpture by A. Hays in the collection of the Royal Philharmonic Society. In excellent condition; no chips, cracks or restoration. On a separate (bolted) socle base which has minor flea-bite chips on the upper rim, barely noticeable unless scrutinised with a magnifier. Rare to find, especially in such good order. Impressed 'Copy of the bust in the possession of the Philharmonic Society of London by A. Hays 1871. No 10'. and 'Copeland' with date code for 1891.
