Clarice Cliff Original Bizarre Geometric Cream Jug c1929 (Sold)

An early Bizarre geometric cream jug. Strongly painted in orange, blue and green on an old Newport Pottery shape. In excellent condition - no chips, cracks or restoration and showing little signs of wear. Produced in the first year or so of Clarice Cliff's original designs; simple triangles form a bold and striking design radiating from the base. Gold 'Bizarre by Clarice Cliff, Newport Pottery' backstamp (used briefly in the autumn of 1929) over a Newport Pottery mark. Height 8cm (3.1in)
