Charlotte Rhead Crown Ducal 'Persian Leaf' Rare Small Charger c1938 - Pattern 5391

A rare Charlotte Rhead 'Persian Leaf' wall plaque. The smallest size plaque made, it's finely tube-lined with an Iznic inspired design of stylised leaves in blue and purple with pink and yellow berries. Set against a blue rustic trellis and mottled grey background, this complicated pattern shows beautifully the skill of the tube-liners and paintresses. A rich and vibrant design produced in 1938. In excellent condition; no chips, cracks or restoration. Mild age related crazing associated with these wares, but nothing to detract from this lovely example of Charlotte's work. Pierced foot rim for hanging. Signed in blue enamel 'C Rhead' with decorator's mark 'F' for Fanny Morrey and printed 'Crown Ducal, Made in England' mark. Diameter 23.2cm (9.1in)
