Information
A lovely Crown Ducal twin handled 211 vase - a new shape introduced in 1936. Finely tube-lined in blue with enamelled foxgloves in green, pink, mauve, blue and yellow on a white 'snow' glaze background. A vibrant design introduced alongside 'Wisteria' at the 1937 British Industries Fair where Queen Mary bought examples of both. In excellent condition - no chips, cracks or restoration. Some fine age related crazing, though nothing to detract from the display value of this much sought after design. Signed in blue enamel 'C Rhead' with decorator's mark for Elsie Fearns, pattern number 4953 and printed 'Crown Ducal, Made in England' with moulded '211' shape number.
Height 14cm (5.5in)
