Charles Meigh Improved Stone China 'Amherst Japan' Serving Dish c1835

A lovely 'Amherst Japan' shell shaped dish by Charles Meigh of Hanley. Vibrantly painted in iron red and cobalt blue with highlights in yellow ochre and the single shell handle finished with best gold. In excellent condition; no chips, cracks or restoration and showing little signs of wear. A fine example that displays beautifully. Printed 'Amherst Japan' with impressed 'Improved Stone China' marks. Width 22.5cm (8.8in)
