A lovely plate with beaded edge by Thomas and John Carey (1823-42) printed in light to medium blue with a view of Lichfield Cathedral and its three distinctive spires. Framed by a wide border of ecclesiastical arches and tracery. In excellent condition; no chips, cracks or restoration. Printed 'Litchfield Cathedral, Carey's Saxon Stone China' on a cartouche and ribbon below a bishop's mitre. Impressed anchor with 'CAREYS'. Diameter 26cm (10.25in)
