A rare Burmantofts wall plaque by Pierre Mallet, the specialist faience painter and designer. Modelled in relief with the tale of the Tortoise and the Geese, a group of frogs looking on in amusement. A fine turquoise glaze with P. Mallet signature to the front. In excellent condition - no chips, cracks or restoration and little sign of wear. Nice to find in such good order. Impressed Burmantofts Faience and incised model number 945. Pierced foot rim for hanging. Diameter 27.25cm (10.75in)
