A fantastic Bell's of Glasgow low relief jug commemorating the marriage of Edward and Alexandra of Denmark on 10th March 1863. Each side has a portrait medallion of the prince and princess framed by crowned wreaths and sprays of roses, shamrocks and thistles - the detail enhanced with hand painted pale orange lustre and coloured enamels. The Prince of Wales feathers under the spout are also painted in orange lustre. In excellent condition - no chips, cracks or restoration and little sign of wear. Rare to find, especially in such good order. Raised round moulded mark J & M P Bell & Co. Glasgow Pottery. Height at handle 21cm (8.25in)
