A lovely 'Arabesque' cream jug designed by John Guildford for Barker Brothers of Longton. Hand painted with stylised 'sgraffito' red pyramids and elongated trees in green, blue, yellow and mauve against a bright orange ground. Deep bands of blue to the rim and base make a striking contrast. In good display condition with only a couple of minor paint scuffs near and on the handle (see image 4) and a faint hairline to the base (image 5). Still a rare little jug, priced accordingly. Printed Barker Bros 'Arabesque by John Guildford' signature. Height 7cm (2.75in)
