Superb Early 'Gaudy Welsh' Pottery Jug c1830 (Sold)

A fine Gaudy Welsh jug in great condition, showing the odd minor firing imperfection commensurate with the time of manufacture, but no major damage, cracks, chips or staining. Handpainted in iron red, green and cobalt blue, and then overpainted with lots of purple lustre which in itself shows little sign of wear. The inside rim is also decorated with stylised flowers. A largish size, rare to find. Unmarked. Height 15.9cm (6.25in)
