Information

The glass collector and expert Cyril Manley called this shape and design 'the elite' of Queen's Ware, which Sowerby's patented in 1876. The colour was registered as 'ivory'. It's a vitro-porcelain mixture, and the aesthetic movement design of this piece incorporates a frieze of flowers and peacocks and was probably based on a Walter Crane or Kate Greenaway motif. On four feet and with two angular handles, this little gem is in great condition and a good cream colour. Fully marked, though difficult to photograph, with trademark and diamond registration for 1876. Height 5.5cm (2.3in)
