A fine pair of 'Imari' Japan Basket pattern early Mason's Ironstone serving dishes - a very decorative shape printed in underglaze blue with lotus, peony and other flowers painted in iron red. In great condition - no chips, cracks or restoration and showing little sign of wear. Printed 'Mason's Patent Ironstone China' crown marks in blue. Length 28cm (11in)

The shape is illustrated several times in Godden's Guide to Mason's China and the Ironstone Wares, see page 109 colour plate 5 which shows a similar shaped old Japan pattern dish.
