A lovely 7274 twin handled vase from the Sir Roger de Coverley series of seven scenes based on the characters created by Thomas Steele for The Spectator first published in 1711/12. Here Mr Spectator is reading an invitation to be a guest of Sir Roger. A fine sepia print with hand coloured detail and washes. In excellent condition; no chips, cracks or restoration. Printed Royal Doulton special series mark and painted series number D3418. Height 10.75cm (4.2in)
