Information
A beautifully modelled Parian bust by Copeland after the sculpture 'Enid' by F M Miller, RA. Enid the Fair and the Good appears in both Arthurian and Welsh legend and later in Tennyson's 'Idylls of the King' (Geraint and Enid) which was probably the inspiration for Miller's work. Finely detailed, she has a lovely diadem in her flowing hair and her bodice features heraldic lions and fleurs-de-lys and is held by a celtic knot brooch. In excellent condition; no chips, cracks or restoration. Some minor nibbles on the socle where it joins the bust, often the case and nothing to detract. Rare to find, especially in such good order. Impressed Copeland, ENID (in Gothic lettering) and F M MILLER SC. Separate bolted socle impressed Crystal Palace Art Union. Height 28cm (11in)

Illustrated in 'Parian' by Robert Copeland page 208 and 'The Parian Phenomenon' page 181.
